Here are some ideas for how you can help preserve and protect Connors Lake, Lake of the Pines, and their surroundings, and to enhance the water quality, fishery, boating safety, and aesthetic values as a public recreational facility for today and for future generations. Support Connors Lake | Lake of the Pines Lake Association with a membership or other monetary contributions. Be aware of activities in your area that threaten the water clarity of our lakes. Attend our general meetings on Saturdays at 9 a.m. on summer holiday weekends. (See the Events Calendar on our home page.) Let us hear from you, so we know how we can be most helpful to you and how we can best protect our lakes.

General meetings are held on the Saturday of a summer holiday weekend, (Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day) at 9 a.m. at Big Bear Lodge. Please see the Events Calendar on our home page for specific dates and times.

Opportunities to Volunteer By: Jim Schofield, Volunteer Coordinator As everyone is aware, the Connors Lake / Lake of the Pines Lake Association is a volunteer lake association. Many of you have asked about helping out and giving a hand but didn't know what the commitment entailed and the time involved. So, this is a short summary of where we need your help. You will always work with at least one other person to train and help you. Our lakes are depending on you! Adopt a Highway. Clean up Highway W from Highway M to DNR office. It is divided up and takes around 45 minutes. All equipment is provided. Late April and October. Citizen Lake Monitoring Network (CLMN). Pairs go out and measure the temperature, clarity, chlorophyll, and phosphorous of the lakes. May - September. 1 - 2 hours. Training provided. Clean Boats Clean Waters (CBCW). Pairs ask short surveys and inform boaters at the boat landings about our lakes' invasive species, especially Eurasian watermilfoil. 2 hours. 4th of July Fireworks. Set up safety fence prior to fireworks. 1 hour. Clean up Connors Beach the next morning after fireworks. 1 hour. Help at the Lake Association's food and beverage stand. 1 hour Become a Board Member. You discuss and organize activities and projects dealing with the welfare of both lakes. Great people for a great cause! 5 - 6 meetings yearly and a 3 year term. Become a Committee Member. You work with a Board member and other members with issues concerning your committee such as fishery, 4th of July fireworks, aquatic plant and algae, and communications. Most work is done by e- mail and an occasional meeting. Rock Drop. This project spreads rocks on walleye spawning areas in order to increase the hatching success rate of native walleyes.
